3. Smartphone and digital media management
3.1 Operating system
To understand digital media management in a smartphone, we need to "visualize" its software and hardware architecture. We'll take as an example a smartphone with the Android operating system, the most widely used. Other operating systems include iOS, which runs Apple's iPhone smartphones.
Android is the operating system for mobile devices (tablets, smartphones), based on a modified version of the Linux kernel (figure 10 ).
