DRMS (Digital Rights Management Systems) are rights management systems using digital techniques, and are an essential link in the electronic commerce of digital content. Digital rights management systems are based on the creation of a "space of trust" between rights holder(s) and user(s), necessary for the distribution of digital content of works of all kinds. This space of trust is created throughout the chain, thanks to a range of techniques for describing rights, identifying and protecting digital content, identifying and authenticating users, protecting distribution, procuring user licenses, managing data and remuneration, and so on.
