4. Applications
The potential of blockchains is immense. A considerable number of technologies have emerged with a multitude of cryptocurrencies (there are several thousand). Other, more private, types of blockchain have emerged and are the subject of POCs (Proof of Concept) for in-house testing and evaluation. There are three main types of blockchain, each responding to a different type of application, reflecting the huge diversity of use cases. The majority of sectors are impacted by blockchain, and a few examples will be presented here.
