5. LISP protocol application examples
5.1 Migration to IPv6
By definition, the LISP encapsulation scheme is IP protocol version agnostic. As such, LISP provides a relatively simple solution for deploying IPv6 rapidly, i.e. with minimal impact on the communications infrastructure.
Communications between IPv6 terminals located in remote LISP sites can thus be established over an IPv4 core infrastructure and, as IPv6 traffic becomes the majority, LISP can also be used to establish communications between IPv4 islands over IPv6 infrastructures.
