3.1 Services for network operators

To be able to provide high-quality service to their customers, telecoms network operators need to have the tools they need to manage their networks, and therefore to have access to operation and maintenance services that can be classified according to the five functional areas defined by the ISO (International Standards Organization):

  • fault detection for maintenance purposes ;

  • configuration management to compensate for failures (possibility of re-routing, etc.) ;

  • performance evaluation based on traffic observation ;
