4. Regulation of the satellite universe
4.1 Existing regulatory framework
In addition to communications, numerous other regulations apply to the field of space, as perceived by aeronautics, world trade, transport, meteorology, space-related research centers, etc., and are drafted by other regulatory bodies. These include international bodies (GATS, WTO, ISO, IEC) and others whose remit is sometimes regional (FCC, Federal Communications Commission, for the USA), ESA (European Space Agency) for Europe, Eutelsat (European Telecommunications Satellite Organization) for satellite transmission of television channels and radio stations, etc. In France, for example, the ANFR (Agence nationale des fréquences) liaises with some 60 regulatory bodies linked to its own activities.
