4. Operating satellite services
Satellite communications systems offer many advantages over terrestrial systems. They have the capacity to serve a wide geographic coverage with high bandwidths that are easy to install despite geographical conditions that sometimes present access difficulties. Their service characteristics are independent of terrain. Satellites are highly immune to natural disasters, and their costs are low compared with terrestrial communications systems. Their main drawbacks are high launch costs and, for some of them, transmission delays and echo phenomena.
