15. Implementing a PCE

The implementation of a PCE architecture requires the analysis of several criteria. In this paragraph, we propose to detail the implementation of a PCE solution on the basis of an example.

Let's take the example of an IP network operator who also has an OTN/WDM transmission network. The IP network consists of a single domain but several areas, is reasonably sized, and is managed by a single team. The OTN/WDM transmission network is managed by a separate team in a division far removed (in terms of company organization) from that of the IP network. The IP network requires a PCE for bandwidth optimization and disjoint path calculations. We will keep this example as a reference throughout this paragraph.
