5. DCCP-based applications and protocol deployment

5.1 Applications

The protocol offers the possibility of adaptation between the application and flow regulation mechanisms implemented in the transport layer; for example, DCCP can enable applications to decide which packets to send, when the intrinsic flow rate of the application is higher than the flow rate "authorized" by the congestion control.
