2. IPv6 unicast address generation and security

There are several ways to dynamically generate IIDs (Interface Identifiers) for IPv6 unicast addresses.

2.1 Modified EUI-64

The most common method is based on the modified IEEE identifier EUI-64 (see IEEE Standards in the For more information), which in turn is based on the IEEE 802 address, better known as the Media Access Control (MAC ) address.
