2.1 Presentation
IP Filter is a firewall operating at the network layer of the OSI model. It relies on IP addresses, ports and protocols. It is loaded into the operating system as a module. The source code or compiled packages are available for multiple operating systems: Solaris, Solaris-x86, SunOS, NetBSD, FreeBSD, BSD/OS, IRIX, OpenBSD, some Linux distributions, HP-UX, Tru64 and QNX. It is also a native part of the following operating systems: FreeBSD, NetBSD, xMach, Solaris 10 and Open Solaris.
