5. METIS approach

METIS (Mobile and wireless communications Enablers for the Twenty-twenty Information Society ) , led by Ericsson, was the first major FP7-type collaborative project funded by the European Commission with the aim of preparing for 5G, running between November 2012 and June 2015. It was not limited to European partners and included Huawei and NTT Docomo, among others. The results of METIS were largely used to set up the 5GPPP organization. The final results of METIS are summarized in the project's final deliverable
