3. Carrier Ethernet standard services

Three types of Carrier Ethernet services are available today:

  • end-customer services described in MEF 6.1 ;

  • mobile collection services (described in MEF 22.1) ;

  • collection services for fixed operators (described in MEF 33).

3.1 Services for end customers

End-customer services are services that connect different LANs (Local Area Networks) within a company to each other. They use three types of topology: point-to-point, multipoint-to-multipoint and point-to-multipoint. For each of these topologies, the MEF will define two types of service:
