5. Our services

Because second-generation systems occupy such a large share of the market, the arrival of a new system cannot ignore what already exists, particularly in terms of the services offered. For example, a certain degree of compatibility is guaranteed between services offered on a GSM network and those offered on a UMTS network. The segmentation into bearer services, teleservices and supplementary services, inherited from the ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) model, is retained. As soon as the first phase of UMTS, version 99 defined by 3GPP, was introduced, all the services defined in GSM were supported. Specific services are beginning to appear, but all existing services on GSM networks are retained, whether in circuit or packet mode.
