4. Manganese-zinc ferrites and their applications

In 2022, manganese-zinc ferrites will still be the most widely used soft ferrites in industry, accounting for 60-70% of worldwide sales. Their main applications are at high power levels, where the material will transfer or store electrical energy in magnetic form, and at low levels, where the material will transmit low-amplitude signals with or without modification.

4.1 Mn-Zn ferrites for power applications

The so-called power applications of Mn-Zn ferrites concern electrical energy conversion (DC-DC converters, switch-mode power supplies). In these applications, Mn-Zn ferrites are preferred to metallic magnetic materials (iron-silicon or iron-nickel sheets) when the operating frequency exceeds 10 kHz.
