4. Spectral Hole Burning analysis

The principle of spectral analysis of radio frequency (RF) signals by Spectral Hole Burning (SHB) is based on the very high spectral selectivity of rare earth ions in a crystalline matrix, and on the considerable inhomogeneous broadening of the absorption lines of these materials.

4.1 A reminder of how the broadband spectral analysis demonstrator works

In this section, we briefly review the principle of the SHB broadband spectral analysis demonstrator in rare-earth ion-doped crystals, and introduce the definition of the demonstrator's functional blocks.
