7. Glossary and acronyms

IOT; IOT

Hybrid electron tube between a triode (the beam is bundled with a grid: density modulation) and a klystron (the beam gives up its energy by radiation in a resonant cavity).

klystron ; klystron

Electron tube consisting of a series of cavities separated by tunnels under cut-off. The beam is bundled by speed modulation.

tetrode; tetrode

Electron tube with 4 electrodes: cathode, modulation grid, screen grid and anode/collector. The beam is bundled by the modulation grid (density modulation).

triode; triode

Electron tube with 3 electrodes: cathode, modulation grid and anode/collector. Beam bundling takes place via the grid (density modulation).
