4. Conclusion

EMC maintenance is a delicate subject, rarely addressed in system design, because it involves operations which, if not carefully planned, quickly become cumbersome. However, there are cases where the protection of critical functions cannot do without regular performance checks. Either they are included in the maintenance cycles as part of the functional check, or in-situ checks are required. Automated active testing is possible, and can be included in low design costs if the electronics are designed with this in mind at an early stage. As always, EMC should not be seen as a constraint to be resolved at the last minute, but as an opportunity to improve the performance of electronics, including in their original mission.
