6.1 Shape and size
Revolution shapes are the most common, but any shape is possible, especially a polyhedron (cube, etc.) or a sphere. Symmetry of revolution is preferred for several reasons:
lower manufacturing cost and better integrity (corners can chip and alter the resonant frequency);
simplified resonant frequency calculation.
Ring shapes are ideal for eliminating the parasitic TM mode or for central screw fixing and centering....
