4. Design methodology

The design of a computer board is a complicated operation which must take into account all the trades involved in its production, optimizing their interactions.

The final objective of computer board design is to obtain a product that conforms to the system specification in terms of electrical functionality, dimensions, thermal and electromagnetic behavior, reliability, environmental compatibility, cost and lead time.

Figure 28 summarizes the various operations to be carried out from system specification and architecture to final board assembly and testing.
