2. State of the art and challenges

The state of the art in VHF power converters is given in this section. Aspects relating to converter topologies, gate control, active and passive components, and general design challenges are discussed.

2.1 Converter topologies

The classic VHF DC/DC conversion structure consists of cascading the inverter and rectifier blocks, between which an impedance matching stage can be inserted, as shown in figure 4 . These three blocks are described in turn.
