4.1 Construction principles
A smart card consists of three components (figure 10 ):
a plastic card (usually made of PVC-polyvinyl chloride, ABS-acrylonitrile-budadiene-styrene or PC – polycarbonate), with or without a magnetic stripe;
an electronic module, supporting electrical contacts or a transponder (electronic module and antenna);
a silicon integrated circuit.
