3. Response to call for tenders. Preparation of offer
The tender response stage begins with the receipt of the customer's specifications by the prime contractor's sales team. As indicated in paragraph 2, we'll be focusing on the technical part of the specification, which contains technical specifications relating to the electromagnetic environment and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements.
As we have already seen, the more complex the project (as in the case of a system), the more important it is to take electromagnetic compatibility into account at an early stage in the life cycle of the project. For a system, and to a lesser extent for equipment, the impact of not taking the environment into account can be dramatic, and ultimately very costly. This often leads to non-conformities during the qualification phase, costly retrofits and delays in system or equipment delivery.
