5. Data transmission

5.1 General

The data transmission system between the PAs and the various PCs is an essential link in the overall telecontrol system. Its reliability must be carefully considered:

  • the media used must be doubled and allow information to be transported under all circumstances;

  • transmission procedures must be implemented to guarantee correct routing of information on a given medium.

This security, which must be guaranteed by the transmission media, is not only required by telecontrol systems.

The short-circuit protection installed on the network requires data transmission between the ends of the power lines to be equally secure.
