1. Line protection

To illustrate the protective functions of overhead lines and cables, only electronic static protection is examined in the following paragraphs. Firstly, in 2008, this type of protection is still in the majority on French networks. Secondly, the division of static protection into functional blocks clarifies the presentation of elementary measurement functions. All elementary measurement functions can be performed by digital protections. The advantages of digital protections are presented in the [D 4 803] file.
