1. Objectives
To be sustainable, the development of nuclear energy must meet the three objectives discussed in this article (Box 1) and satisfy the constraints mentioned in the article. .
Objective A: produce electricity (and possibly heat) that is competitive with other energies.
Objective B: upstream, make the best use of resources.
Objective C: downstream, limit waste, especially final waste.
