2. Uninterruptible power supply

2.1 General

These measures consist of taking steps to eliminate any danger, either by making contact with masses non-hazardous, or by preventing any simultaneous contact with elements likely to present a dangerous contact voltage. They generally do not require protective conductors or automatic cut-off devices.

The application of these measures is, in fact, limited to individual devices or localized equipment. Some are imposed in conditions where the hazards are particularly great, as complementary measures to those involving automatic shutdown of an entire installation.
