3. Power flow
The "power flow" module establishes the steady-state operating conditions of the network. It calculates the phasors of synchronous rotating machines and the initial slip of asynchronous machines according to the power flow setpoints. The controlled power and voltage can form the setpoint (PV) of the synchronous machine. In the case of an asynchronous machine, either electrical or mechanical power can be imposed. For transient purposes, three-phase or even multi-phase conditions should ideally be obtained. This type of power flow calculation allows unbalanced conditions to be taken into account. In cases where three-phase power flow is not available, it is acceptable to obtain and convert the results provided by conventional direct-sequence power flow software if the network under study is balanced.
