 INTRODUCTION

This article follows on from article , whose notations it adopts in particular, and whose results are assumed to be known without the need for explicit reference.

The article presented the basic principles of VRMs and described the structures, power supply and operation of single-phase variable reluctance motors and polyphase stepper-type commutation machines.

This article presents more complex structures or operations: sinusoidal polyphase structures known as "Vernier" and excited polyphase machines. Methods for optimizing the energy consumption of gear teeth and structures are then described, thus clarifying the effective potential of MRVs.
