Thanks to powerful and now inexpensive computational units, predictive control is a powerful and efficient solution for controlling converter-machine combinations, including complex converter structures with many permissible configurations. Recent improvements, such as the use of filtered quantities in cost functions, offer promising prospects for this type of control.
When several objectives have to be met, the use of cost functions associating several weighted variables enables intuitive control settings.
