3. Non-linearity of control structures

3.1 Intrinsic non-linearity of the machine: magnetic saturation

The structural equations derived from modeling as defined in the first three paragraphs of article highlight a non-linearity intrinsic to the DC machine. With separate excitation, magnetic saturation (see [D 3 610] , figure1) results in a non-linear function F –1 , as shown by the flux derivative equation :
