2. Synthesis liquids
Although mineral oils play an important role, synthetic liquids are also used when special properties are required (fire resistance, resistance to partial discharge, negative gassing, etc.).
Insulating liquids are often designated by a universally accepted acronym. This acronym is often formed by the initials of the chemical name or the predominant category or molecule of the product (see table A in ).
Synthesis products can be differentiated by application; we have chosen to differentiate them by type of chemical structure:
chlorinated hydrocarbons ;
non-halogenated aromatic hydrocarbons ;
aliphatic hydrocarbons ;
esters ;
silicone oils....
