4. Glossary – Definitions

  • Shock absorber ; (buffer)

    A deformable end-of-stroke stop incorporating a fluid or spring braking system (or other similar device). The damper is a safety component and must be CE marked (see below).

  • Elevator; (ascenseur, ascenseur)

    A lifting device that serves defined levels by means of a housing that moves along rigid guides and whose inclination to the horizontal is greater than 15 degrees, or a lifting device that moves along a perfectly fixed course in space, even if it does not move along rigid guides.

    An elevator is a device that permanently serves buildings and structures and is designed to transport people, people and objects, objects only if the passenger compartment is accessible, i.e. if a person can enter it without difficulty, and if it is equipped with controls...
