8. Glass roofs

It looks like a standard curtain wall. However, using ordinary curtain wall profiles is out of the question, as long as the facades are inclined, otherwise leakage is certain.

A curtain wall is always externally ventilated (drained and pressure-balanced) and internally sealed. This is even more important in a glass roof. However, it's a tricky job, as ventilation must not lead to water infiltration. In practice, ventilation takes place through the draining mullions.

The principle of a glass roof is to drain the crossbeams towards the uprights and to evacuate water at the bottom. However, care must be taken to ensure watertightness at the junctions of vertical stiffeners, taking expansion into account. A good solution is to install a gutter gasket covering the entire profile nose. This joint should be in one piece over the entire height....
