2. Architectural features

2.1 Morphology

The morphology of a structure is determined by several parameters:

  • its geometry, a function, of course, of the shape and elevation of the construction: volumes are generated by straight, broken or curved lines, which move by translation or rotation on generators that are themselves straight, broken or curved. The result is an infinite number of possibilities, limited only by human creativity;

  • its material: this has a clear influence on the aesthetics of a building. Depending on its specific qualities (mechanical, fire resistance, durability...), it plays a part in the reasoning that leads to the elaboration of the shape. It enhances the structure through its color and appearance characteristics;...
