6. Usage

Lauzes are suitable for all types of building, whether residential or agricultural.

Restoration work on slate and lauze roofs can be supported by public policies to promote rural heritage ("Fonds Denieul" in the Lot department, "opération ardoises" in Ariège). This helps to restore traditional know-how and enhance the value of these roofs.

Companies have specialized in this type of renovation, but despite the rationalization of building sites, this type of roofing remains costly. It is reserved for the restoration of traditional buildings, and is rarely used in new construction.
