5. Pardek system from Zoontjens

5.1 Components

This system combines four main elements:

  • SBS modified single-layer asphalt waterproofing;

  • extruded expanded polystyrene insulation with high crush resistance, Polyfoam C500 from Knauf (minimum 500 kPa for 10% crush resistance);

  • large recycled rubber studs to distribute the weight of the slabs and rolling loads;

  • concrete slabs measuring 90 × 90 cm, weighing 160 kg per slab, and therefore handled by forklift trucks which can drive over the elements already laid (as shown in figure
