    These rules apply to load-bearing (R), separating (EI) and load-bearing and separating (REI) constructions. For the function (EI), they apply only for nominal fire resistances not exceeding 60 minutes.

    Non-separating load-bearing structures must be designed for fire exposure on both sides at the same time. Rules are provided in Appendix D(I) for subsystems with cavities.
