1. Definition of technical engineering
In its most general sense, engineering is defined as all the services involved in studying, designing and building a structure.
Specialist engineers can work either within a single speciality, generally as "consulting engineers", or within a larger, multidisciplinary structure, the "technical design office" or engineering company.
It's these organizations that we're interested in here; we'll refer to them as "technical engineering" or "engineering" in the following.
To define this type of engineering more precisely, we need to clarify its missions, services and main types of intervention.
