2. Building permits
A building permit is an administrative document that allows anyone to build a structure of a certain size.
It is compulsory for major works.
The aim is to check that the project complies with the legislative and regulatory urban planning provisions set out in the PLU (local urban planning plan); this plan is available at the property's town hall and can be downloaded free of charge.
Planning permission is free, but the process of obtaining it is expensive.
