6.1.1 Object

The provisions of this section are designed to limit the spread of fire and smoke through the building.

To this end, rooms must be separated from adjoining rooms and corridors by vertical walls and doors with certain fire-resistance characteristics. However, these walls and doors may not have fire-resistance characteristics for certain rooms with a reduced surface area, or if they distribute rooms or exits grouped together within a compartment....
