5. Application to composite-reinforced steel beams
The new reinforcement system is used for three steel beams. The first and second are reinforced in compression by a CFC plate bonded with epoxy resin and an alternating epoxy-polyurethane resin respectively. The third is reinforced by a CFC-PRF plate bonded with epoxy resin.
5.1 Beam geometry
For all three types of beam, the chosen metal profile is IPE100. The beams have a total length of 3 m, with a clear span of 2.8 m. The CFC slab is 3 m long, 200 mm wide and 46 mm thick.
