8. Corrosion diagnosis

Diagnosis of reinforcement corrosion activity in concrete can be broken down into several levels of objectives :

• detect corrosion activity and assess its intensity ;

• identify the origin of corrosion: carbonation, chlorides (internal or external) ;

• assess the spatial extent of observed or measured disorders ;

• predict probable evolution in time and space;

• estimate the risks to the safety of structures and people;
