2. Digital modeling strategies

It has previously been shown that reinforcement corrosion leads to degradation of the steel and the interface between steel and concrete, and ultimately of the reinforced concrete structure. This is why, since the 1980s, many researchers have been interested in proposing models to be able to take into account the effect of reinforcement corrosion on the mechanical behavior of the structure under study. In what follows, the main models are described, in order to identify the strengths and limitations of each class of model.
