13. Conclusion
The role of an engineer is to synthesize factors of diverse and sometimes contradictory origins, combining the quantifiable with the human, and integrating long-term objectives: urban planning, programming, technical and legal constraints. The life of a building is largely conditioned by the choices made from the outset.
Among the many parameters that the engineer must harmonize and weigh up, fire safety occupies an important place.
