4. Highway code requirements

As already mentioned, the second of the codes relating to roads is the Highway Code (see For further information), whose provisions concern vehicles, drivers, the use of roads and traffic police.

We will confine ourselves here to the general prescriptions, referring you to the relevant specialist articles for further details on each point.

4.1 Vehicle weights

The weight conditions that vehicles must meet in order to be authorized to circulate are defined in articles R. 312-1 to R. 312-9 of the Code. They are described in detail in the article entitled "Road pavement dimensioning"
