6. Conclusions

All the above is intended to draw the attention of designers to the determination of maximum sea levels at the site of the structures to be built:

  • know the tides, swells, seiches, surges and tsunamis, which requires a great deal of documentary research;

  • determine the level of the structures. We must take into account the high water marks of exceptional spring tides and the height of swells likely to pass over the structures, which requires a great deal of technical research;

  • if seiches are observed in the area where the planned structures are to be installed, current numerical calculation methods can be used to assess the risk of submergence of the structures or the level of dry dock bottoms.
