
2. Adhesion of contaminated pavements
2.1 Coating families
There are three main pavement families: bare pavement, ice-covered pavement and compacted snow-covered pavement (figure 8 ). The actions of climate and maintenance then define sub-families: bare, dry pavements; water-covered pavements; pavements covered with powdery or slushy snow; pavements covered with anti-skid materials or maintenance products (sand, de-icing salt, etc.).
