3. Water in remote areas

The creation of a temporary community in a remote area, such as a building site in a mountainous region or in a Third World country, or a campsite far from any habitation, poses problems for the supply of drinking water and sanitation.

Laying a pipe from the nearest town is out of the question if the cost is prohibitive, and bringing in water by tanker truck is not always possible and is not, in any case, a permanent solution. A water distribution system must therefore be designed for the site.
