5.1 General design principles

  • Generally speaking, when designing a structure using cold-formed products, it is advisable to observe all the information given above, which can be summarized as follows:

    • the following phenomena must be taken into account in the calculation:

      • torsion,

      • local veiling,

      • cross-sectional deformability,

      • core strength under concentrated loads ;

    • take advantage of the interaction between the envelope and structural elements (known as the "diaphragm effect").
